In April of 2015, Thylmann was indicted by Cologne, Germany federal prosecutor for tax evasion. The charges were dropped after Thylmann paid five million euros, but he has a suspended sentence to serve in a different case.

In October of 2013, Thylmann stepped down and was sold to Manwin at EUR73 million, citing unspecified reasons.
